2011- My highs and lows...

First and foremost- - I am deeply sorry guys for not update this blog for almost five (5) months now... It is because I have my OJT now... And now, I am already graduating... Yehey me!!!... Wish me luck guys on my journey... I want to finish my schooling already by 2012.... To all my inspirations, I have learned soo much from you guys and girls, hehe. I will keep doing my work as a student, as a Roman Catholic, and as a son to my parents as well... To the readers of my blog, thank you for keeping in touch.... I admit that ever since 2011, I start using my Twitter Account, and still learning from it... haha. I now realized that life is short, and I should make the most of it, because at the end of the day, you offer it to God, you will give thanks because you are still given a chance, LIFE is VERY IMPORTANT. 2011 is also the year when I was emotionally-attached, I have so many crushes, but when my grades were not as high as it seemed to be, I try to bounce back and re-gain my composure and focus, I know my crushes will still be there along the way, but I have learned from it. And Pure Love, you are THE BEST!. :))

Women's Semifinals: Ateneo bows to DLSU

Ateneo bows to DLSU in a thrilling five-setter match, scores are: 26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 26-28, and finally 15-10 in favor of DLSU.
Stephanie Mercado lead the Lady Archers as she chunked in with 16 points. On the support are teammates Abigail Marano with 13 points, as Charleehn Cruz and Jacqueline Alarca with 12 points apiece.
As for the side of Ateneo, Fille Cainglet had a superb game with 19 points. Backing-up were Angeline Gervacio had 16 markers, as Kara Acevedo and graduating player Bea Pascual had 10 and 8 points respectively for the Lady Eagles.

Men's Semifinals: UST bounced back to clinch into the finals

The UST Growling Tigers bounced back from a two-set loss to force the DLSU Green Archers into five sets, scores are: 23-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, and 15-8.
John Paul Torres exploded with 23 markers enough to stabilize UST's offensive end. Supporting Torres are Jayson Ramos with 15, John Depante with 13, Henry Pecana with 12, and Harby Ilano with 10.
As for DLSU, utility spiker Christopher Michael Antonio had a magnificent 15 points. Backing up Antonio's efforts were team captain Chris Macasaet with 14, Mark Emilio Lee and John Kevin Dela Vega with 12 points apiece, and setter Samuel Lubi with 3.

Captain Cha Cruz stepped up her game to stop hungry Tigresses

La Salle survived a long five-set victory to stop UST from winning, scores are: 25-20, 25-27, 18-25, 25-22, and finally 15-12.

DLSU's Charleehn Cruz step it up to rattle off 17 points leading the Lady Archers squad. Contributing for Cruz's efforts were: Stephanie Mercado with 16, Abigail Marano with 14, Jacqueline Alarca with 13, Michelle Gumabao with 10, Mikaela Esperanza with 5, and Joanne Siy with 2.

As for the Tigresses side, Aiza Maizo collected 18 points. Backing-up were Judy Ann Caballejo with 17, Maika Angela Ortiz and Maruja Banaticla with 14 points apiece, and finally, setters Rhea Dimaculangan and Sarah Jane Gonzales with 2 points apiece.

FEATURED ARTICLE (February 2011): De La Salle University: The team to BEAT!

In the field of volleyball, both the DLSU Men's Volleyball Team and Women's Volleyball Team are making waves this season.

For the men's division, Chris Macasaet is their #1 scoring arsenal. But what's good about the team is the IMPROVEMENT of some players within two years time. Players like Mark Emilio Lee and Christopher Michael Antonio both on the offensive and defensive side. Mark Emilio Lee skyrocketed as the no.2 option in offense with an average of 16-17 points every game, as for Christopher Michael Antonio he has been consistent in digging up the balls for La Salle to get a good reception.

For the women's division, veteran Jacqueline Alarca is one of the top contenders for the MVP race. But what's noticeable for this La Salle team is the CONTRIBUTION of points from sophomores Michelle Gumabao and Abigail Marano. Another plus factor is their new setter, Mikaela Esperanza who is doing a pretty decent job in executing the plays. For me, I think Mikaela Esperanza is also one of the top contenders for the Rookie MVP of the Year Award. Of course, La Salle doesn't want to give up the Rookie MVP of the Year Award which has been awarded to them in the last two seasons: Melissa Gohing for Season 71, and Joanne Siy for Season 72. Will it be Mikaela Esperanza for Season 73?, we will find out weeks from now.

FEU gets revenge over NU

The FEU Lady Tamaraws closes out NU Lady Bulldogs in five sets, scores are: 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, and finally 15-8. Mecaila Morada dish out a career-high 23 points to lead the Tamaraws in all of the five sets. Backing up Morada's efforts were: Rosemarie Vargas with 18 points, Kathlene Magsumbol with 15 points, Mayjorie Roxas with 11 points, Danna Henson with 8, and finally, Gyzelle Sy with 5 points.

As for the side of the Lady Bulldogs, mainstays Mervic Mangui and Maricar Nepomuceno loaded with 16 points apiece, Carmina Aganon with 9, Rialen Sante with 8, Elaine Sagun with 5, and Lucille Bayron with her lone one point.

Ateneo upsets UST

The Ateneo Lady Eagles made a firing game to upset the UST Tigresses yesterday by winning in three straight sets, score are: 25-23, 25-14, and finally, 25-20.

Fille Cainglet, Bea Pascual, and Kara Acevedo slug it out for a combined 35 points to stop Aiza Maizo's offensive end with only 16 points. As for other players, Angeline Gervacio contributed wuth 9, Gretchen Ho with 8, and Jamenea Ferrer with 4 points.

As for the side of UST, Maika Ortiz made 8 points of her own, as Rhea Dimaculangan and Judy Ann Caballejo was only limited to 5 and 4 points respectively.

DLSU Lady Spikers deters UE Lady Warriors

Standing tall at the top, the DLSU Lady Spikers deter UE Lady Warriors in three sets, scores are: 25-17, 25-17, 25-21. Sophomore Abigail Maraño is the player of the game with 15 points, as Jacqueline Alarca and Michelle Gumabao made 13 and 11 points respectively.

Captain Charleehn Cruz added 5, Stephanie Mercado and Joanne Siy with 4 points apiece, as rookies Cyd Demecillo and Mikaela Esperanza combined for 3 points.

As for the side of UE, Mary Christel Rosale took charge with 12 points, backing up Rosale's performance are Jimberly Dizon and Ma. Teresa Caballero with 6 points apiece, while Sheisha Nebrida, Lorie Lyn Longalong and Abegail Ponon combined for five points in the game.

Lady Bulldogs shocks Tigresses

Even though UST has won, the NU Lady Bulldogs put up a good fight to shock the UST Tigresses in order to face a gruelling five sets, scores are: 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-20, and finally, 17-15.

Aiza Maizo once again lead the pack with her 29 points (26 from attacks). Second leading-scorer for the Tigresses is Maruja Banaticla with 12. Veterans Maika Ortiz uncorked with 9, Judy Ann Caballejo with 7, and Rhea Dimaculangan with 6. Midori Hirotsuji and Valerie Amar contributed one point apiece in the game.

As for NU, Maricar Nepomuceno shows her A-game with her own 26 points. Backing-up Nepomuceno are Carmina Aganon with 15, Rialen Sante with 13, and team captain Mervic Mangui with 12. The other two who made exceptional efforts are Jocelyn Soliven and Elaine Sagun who combined for 5 points.

Ateneo shines in their second win

Ateneo finally gets their second win in a convincing three-sets fashion, scores are: 25-18, 25-20, 25-20. The win against the UP Lady Maroons improve their standings to 2-4, as UP falter to 1-4. Fille Cainglet had an impressive 14 points, as veterans Kara Acevedo and Gretchen Ho made 12 and 11 for the Lady Eagles. Freshmen Jorella De Jesus sparkles in 10, Bea Pascual with 8, setter Jamenea Ferrer with 4, as Denise Lazaro scored 1 point from her overball.

As for the side of UP, Carmela Lopez uncorked with 13 points, while Eileen Quejas and Angelli Araneta added 10 points apiece for the Lady Maroons. Southlyn Ramos, Joyce Palad, Pauline Genido and Aya Del Mundo combined for 14 points for the Lady Maroons.

Just like UST, the DLSU Lady Spikers makes it 5-0 today. The Lady Spikers makes a statement by winning over FEU in four sets today, scores are: 25-15, 20-25, 25-12, and finally 25-20. Jacqueline Alarca has a superb 20 points in her name, as Stephanie Mercado had 15, while Abigail Marano with 13. Other back-ups are captain Charleehn Cruz with 7, Mikaela Esperanza and Michelle Gumabao with 3, and Joanne Siy with 2.

Over the side of FEU, senior player Mecaila Morada led the pack with 17 points, as Rosemarie Vargas and Kathlene Magsumbol chipped in 13 and 12 points respectively. Rookie Danna Henson have 4, as Mayjorie Roxas with 2, and Gyzelle Sy with 1.

Adamson, a possible threat for UST?

UST bounced back from a two-set loss and win the next three sets in order to get into a 3-0 run this season against Adamson University. It was a thrilling five-setter game yesterday, scores are: 18-25, 26-28, 25-11, 25-16 and finally 15-10.
Aiza Maizo and Maika Ortiz are the top-scorers of the game with their 23 and 21 points respectively. Tigresses Judy Ann Caballejo and Maruja Banaticla were next in line with their 13 and 12 points, Midori Hirotsuji and Rhea Dimaculangan with 7 points apiece, as Sarah Jane Gonzales had 1 point from her service ace.
Meanwhile, Adamson's Angela Benting and Paulina Soriano buckled up to put up a good show for their own 18 and 17 points, as Luisa Mae Zapanta and Shiela Pineda have made 8 points apiece, Angelica Quinlog contributed 4 points while Maria Theresa Piza have her own service ace for the team.

UE beats FEU in four sets

UE Lady Warriors improve their standing to 2-1 card, as FEU fell into 0-3. The Lady Warriors lean on captain Mary Cristel Rosale who zooms into her 24 points (22 from attacks, and 2 blocks), enough to win the game, scores are: 26-24, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25. Behind Rosale's efforts are Jimberly Dizon with 10, Ma. Theresa Caballero with 8, Sheisha Nebrida with 7, and Lorie Lyn Longalong with 6.
As for the FEU's side, Rosemarie Vargas is one again the scoring machine for th.e team with 18 points. Backing-up Vargas were Mecaila Morada with 14 points, Kathlene Magsumbol with 12, and Danna Henson with 11. Other players from FEU went on a decent scoring coming from Mayjorie Roxas with 7, Ina Lois Sy with 2, and Christine Agno with 1 point.

A long five-set victory by the Lady Falcons

Even though Far Eastern University have lost the game, it took Adamson University to five-sets to snatch their first victory of the season, scores are: 25-17, 23-25, 14-25, 25-14, and 15-10. Lady Falcons Angela Benting and Paulina Soriano took charge for the team as they have 18 points individually. Shiela Pineda added 11, Luisa Mae Zapanta with 7, Angelica Quinlog and Jenalyn Ortega with 5, and finally, Lourdes Patilano with one point.
On the other hand, Rosemarie Vargas have led the Lady Tams with her own 16 points, as veteran Mecaila Morada scored in 12. Backing-up are Kathlene Magsumbol with 11, as Mayjorie Roxas stepped up bigtime with her 10 points, not bad for a rookie. Danna Henson and Gyzelle Sy chipped in 1 point apiece.

DLSU Lady Spikers proved to be the much stronger team against the NU Lady Bulldogs, scores are: 25-11, 25-14 and 25-9. Three DLSU spikers come in double digits, Jacquelin Alarca lead the pack for the third time with 15 points, as Charleehn Cruz and Stephanie Mercado have 10 points apiece. Sophomores Abigail Maraño, Joanne Siy, and Michelle Gumabao have added a total of 17 points for the team, while freshmens Mikaela Esperanza and Cyd Demecillo have contributed four more points to win over NU in three sets again.
While over to the side of NU, Maricar Nepomuceno was the lone bright star with 8 points. Mervic Mangui had 6, as Rialen Sante and Elaine Sagun have 5 points to their names. Carmina Aganon added 2, as Lucille Bayron with her 1 point to the game.

DLSU Lady Spikers continue to dominate this season with a firing squad as they won in three sets again: 25-17, 25-12, 25-13. Jacqueline Alarca led the squad with 12 hits, as Stephanie Mercado and Abigail Marano contributed with 10, Michelle Gumabao tripped in 7, Charleehn Cruz with 5, Cyd Domecillo with 4, Mikaela Esperanza with 3 and Alexandra Tan with 1.

For the Lady Maroons, their lone bright spot was captain Carmela Lopez with 8 points. Her back-ups were: Angelli Araneta with 6, Southlyn Ramos with 3, Eileen Quejas, Pauline Genido and Denise Data with 2 points apiece, as Princess Se and Sarah Palad chipped in 1 point individually.

Ateneo finally gets its first win by trouncing NU yesterday, scores are: 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 26-24. The 'spark plug', also known as the 'ELLA-vator' J.orella/ Ella De Jesus topscored the Lady Blue Eagles with her 18 points. Behind De Jesus's support are Fille Cainglet with 13, Bea Pascual & Gretchen Ho with 8, Kara Acevedo with 7, Angeline Gervacio with 6, and Rongomaipapa Ahomiro with 3 points. The notable points came from captain Jamenea Ferrer with 4 points, all coming from service aces, and even rookies Aereal Patnongon and libero Denise Lazaro with one point apiece.
Over to the NU's side, Mervic Mangui fired with 16 points, Maricar Nepomuceno & Rialen Sante with 11 points, Lucille Bayron with 10 points, Elaine Sagun with 5 points and Jocelyn Soliven with 2 points.
